Aloha from Honolulu! We went to the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet today. We had a great time walking around looking at all the things for sale. There was everything from t-shirts to Hawaiian shirts and dresses to ukuleles and homemade macadamia nut brittle. We picked up a few items we couldn’t live without and had lunch before heading back to Waikiki. We decided to check out the International Market Place shopping area next. It first opened in 1956 with maze of open-air souvenir stands in the heart of Waikiki. After closing for a complete renovation in 2013, the International Market Place reopened in 2016. A portion of the revenues from the International Market Place directly support The Queen's Medical Center. Only two things from the original International Market Place will remain: the name and a few trees, including — thankfully — the venerable old Indian banyan tree. It was SOOOO different from the last time I was here more than 15 years ago. Definitely not a fun place for me.All of the shops are now very high-end and definitely not open-air souvenir stands!
Worn out from shopping we high tailed it back to the condo for a dip in the pool and relaxing in the sun. Near sunset, we headed back out to the beach. We had a beautiful view of Diamond Head, too.Tomorrow we have reservations to visit the Pearl Harbor Memorial so we are in for the night.
