October 1, 2020 - Colby, KS to Fort Collins, CO

Today was our final push home! The sky was cloudy as we started our drive, but cleared off as we headed north and west. We could definitely tell we were on the plains today – miles and miles of flat land with some rolling hills.

Bales and bales of hay covered some fields. The corn was being harvested in some fields and awaiting the combines in others. We were busy seeing hawks again today, too!We saw this cloud formation as we were heading north. It was like a huge ribbon all the way across the sky.

We entered Colorado on Hwy. 34 and this was the first time we had seen a sign like this one describing what Colorado is like.

As we approached Greeley, Colorado we were both aware of the haze in the sky from the fires burning west of Fort Collins. Normally, we would be able to see the mountains, but not today.Nearing I-25, we could start to see the foothills, but they were definitely shrouded with haze.Back home, the RV is parked at the house and we had the arduous task of unloading everything and getting it cleaned. This shot was taken about 3:00 pm and you can see how dark the sky was. Everything is still covered with ash and air quality is terrible.

We had a great trip, but it is good to be home!
