My sister and I haven’t been on a trip together since 2010, so today we put an end to that long spell. We had an early morning flight from Phoenix to Honolulu for a week of girl time. We flew on Hawaiian Airlines and while our seats were near the back of the plane, at least they were inside! The crew was super friendly and they served a nice breakfast sandwich.Six hours later we had some beautiful views of Oahu as we made our approach to the airport. In Honolulu we cleared Covid protocols to enter the state. Woohoo! We took the city bus from the airport to the Ala Moana Center where the city has a satellite office and were purchased our senior bus pass. The Senior fare was only $1.00 to the office and an additional $6.00 for the month long pass – what a great deal.
After we got our passes we went to the food court and grabbed some lunch. Before we could enter the seating area we had to show our ID and vaccination cards. No problem for us. Bodies refueled, we found our way to the bus stop to head to our condo at the Wyndham Royal Garden. We have a great view from our balcony. To the right we can see the ocean about four blocks from here. This view to the left is the Ali Wai Canal. The Honolulu Rowing Club offers community recreational sculling along the Canal and we saw several sculls going up and down. After settling in we hopped back on the bus to pick up some groceries. We are definitely going to get our use from those passes! It rained a little off and on, but nothing terrible. It was actually pretty refreshing! Before dinner, we took another walk along the canal then over to Kalakaua Avenue to window shop. We were treated to a beautiful rainbow! We fixed dinner in and are going to have an early bedtime since Hawaii is three hours earlier than Arizona. Aloha for tonight!
