Mexico 2012 RV Trip - Day 54–Feb. 18, 2012 Puerto Marques - Acapulco

Puerto Marques really knows how to party; the disco went until 6 am today! Since we were going fishing at 7:30, it made for a VERY short night!

Ray, one of Augie’s boat captains, took us out in Augie’s first boat, Agustin. We can say that we fished, we just didn’t catch! We did have some nice views of Acapulco Bay. It was a bit hazy, but still a pleasant boat ride.

This afternoon we decided to move to a different location because we needed a better nights sleep and we also needed to use a dump station and get water. If you are ever in Puerto Marques, however, be sure to stop by Pepe’s at the south end of the beach and talk to Agustin. He can help you arrange any kind of water sports or see that you are served a nice meal.

The bypass road around Acapulco is 42 miles, but the city is very congested and many of the streets are narrow. As the crow flies, the distance is about 10 miles. Even though it was longer in distance, it was actually shorter in time and stress.
We are at the Acapulco Trailer Park which is located on on north of Acapulco on the ocean. Our spot is in the second row, not ocean view. It is $250 pesos a night ($20 USD), but we have water, electric, and can still hear the waves crashing into the shore. (Ocean view is $300 pesos/nt.)

We had a nice walk on the beach and watched a large golden retriever chasing a tennis ball into the waves then race back to shore. He would dig a huge hole to bury it, then roll on the ball until the waves came and snagged it again. We were quite entertained!
In Puerto Marques there are lots of guys offering their jet skis for rent, here there are guys offering horses to rent, but I don’t do horses! There was a lovely, but cloudy sunset and the last of the cowboys heading home.
After dinner we had some chores to do since we have electricity – like vacuuming – but the silly thing wouldn’t work. Tobey took it all apart, reassembled it, and it worked like a charm.
