We had planned to ride the scooter back to Chetumal to visit the museum today, but the weather forecast was for rain off and on all day. Our wonderful hostess, Kathe, offered to take us in her truck. We dropped off laundry on the way to the museum.
The Mayan Cultural Museum was quite interesting with good displays of several different ruins with information in both Spanish and English. The admission was $60 pesos each (about $4.50 USD).
After the museum we walked through the public market then had lunch at Mi Viejo, a restaurant Kathe recommended. It was great! We shared an order of “mixto” cheviche. It came with a cup of seafood soup as an appetizer, and chips. There was so much food we have leftovers!
We got a taxi back to Kathe’s after picking up our laundry then took Kathe out to dinner. We had a great meal – seafood soup, seafood chili rellenos and fish Maya a Pil Pil style. Delicious! Back at Kathe’s we played some games before heading back to the RV to get ready for an early morning start.
This is our second day without internet service – yikes. Our banda (portable internet) needs cell service to work and there isn’t any here. We are hoping we can connect tomorrow and post the last couple of days. GPS 18.58406°N, 88.23350°W
