We had a pretty quiet day. We stayed in and read, then rode bikes to the grocery store. We fixed chicken nachos for dinner and went for a walk to cool down this evening. We stopped to get a Flan Napolitano for dessert. It is a cream cheese flan - smooth, soft and creamy with an incredibly rich flavor. We didn’t have too much caramel sauce but it was still yummy! Ours came in a plastic take-away container, and we ate it at home before I remembered to take a picture so I snagged one off the internet! $50 pesos ($2.65USD)
We watched the Democratic presidential debate and called it a night!

We went to the beach this morning. It wasn’t too crowded and the water was so refreshing. We enjoyed walking the beach and relaxing before heading home for lunch.
This evening we met Susan and Bill, our neighbors from Fort Collins, for dinner! They are staying in Akumal for a few days and hadn’t been to Tulum for several years. We tried a new to us restaurant, Sabor de Mar, that is supposed to be the #2 rated in Tulum according to TripAdvisor. It was a disappointment!
Tobey and I split the ceviche. The portion was small, and way too spicy. We were so disappointed, I didn’t even take a picture! Dinner with two soft drinks and tip was $300 pesos (almost $16 USD). That isn’t really expensive, but it is high compared to other restaurants here for the same thing. Bill and Susan had tacos and hers were good, his were so-so.
After dinner we walked Main Street and back sharing good conversation. We stopped to get a marquesita with cajeta. It was $30 pesos. A marquesita is like a crunchy crepe – think very thin waffle cone. Cajeta is a Mexican caramel sauce made with goat's milk. Tobey is not fond of them because they are too crunch and fall apart. I think I like them for the filling! After the crepe is cooked and the cajeta added, it is rolled up in a paper cone and more cajeta is poured in. Very sticky, but I enjoyed it! After our walk, we got Susan and Bill back to their car and they headed back to Akumal. We grabbed the bikes and came home. Another good day in Tulum.
