February 12-13, 2020 - Tulum, Mexico

February 12

I developed a heat rash from the sun so we went out last night and picked up some cortisone cream. It rained off and on until early afternoon so we stayed in and kept my legs slathered in cortisone. It’s working. We rode our bikes to the grocery store and vegetable market this afternoon. Tobey beat me at a game of gin, so we are tied, 2-2. I cooked dinner tonight and we just hanging out, probably reading more and more cortisone. End of story.

Well, the rash is about all gone – YEAH!!! We biked out to the beach this afternoon and parked at the public beach access area. There are loads of bikes there!2020-2-13 bike parkingIt was a great afternoon and the water was warm – and no one harassing us to pay for bike parking.Winking smile

This evening we biked to dinner at one of the street taco stands. 2020-2-13 taco standTobey had the pollo empanizado (breaded chicken) taco and the arrachera (skirt steak)taco. 2020-2-13 Tobeys tacosI had the pollo empanizado taco, as well, and a cochinita pibil taco. Cochinita pibil is a traditional Mexican slow-roasted pork similar to pulled pork.2020-2-13 Sues tacosBoth had mashed potatoes and cactus on them. We added guacamole, beans, and pico de gallo. They were messy and different than any tacos we have had, but pretty good. It was $85 pesos ($4.50 USD) for the four tacos.

As we were finishing, we met a young woman walking her toy Australian shepherd. He was a cute puppy – and very well behaved. We enjoyed visiting with her and hearing about their travels – and I got a puppy fix petting the little guy!

We are going to watch a movie tonight and relax after such a hard day!
