Happy Birthday to my mom! We are wishing you all the best today and wish you could be here so we could celebrate together.
We rode our bicycles to the beach near Playa Paraiso this afternoon. We parked in their lot and one of the attendants told us he would let us park there today free, but they usually have a minimum spend of $800 pesos (almost $43USD) for “free” parking! The water is so blue and there were lots of people on the beach. We enjoyed the people watching and listened to some drummers who were going up and down the beach, playing for a while, then collecting tips. This boat which is at the far north end of the beach has seen better days. When we got our bikes and were heading home, there was a different attendant in the parking lot and he was going to charge us $200 pesos ($10.75USD) to leave since we hadn’t spent the $800 pesos at the restaurant or bar. We said, 'no’ and when a car came in and he had to lower the chain, we left. He threatened to call the police, so … we rode fast! There are several other public access points along this beach where we can park our bikes – and will – in the future!
Tonight we had street tacos – three each and drinks – for $116 pesos. ($6.25USD) We tried the “costillas” (ribs) and “res” (beef). To be honest, there wasn’t much difference in the taste between the two! They were okay, but not the best we have had.As we were finishing our meal, we spotted an “arco iris” (rainbow) to the north. It was a nice finish to a good day!
