It rained steady all night and was still drizzling this morning when we got up so the guys weren’t in any hurry to get started this morning. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast bread that our neighbor, Lisa, made for our trip. It was amazing and both Tobey and Tyler want the recipe!!! It was a great treat for the last day of the ride they were doing together.
We left the fire station parking lot and drove back to the starting point for the day. They were ready to ride about 9:45 am. Light rain and fog chased them off and on for the first 7-8 miles. We had check in points about every 12-15 miles today. Their lunch stop was in Wickenburg, Arizona. As we came into town, this historic marker commemorates the area where the Wickenburg-Ehrenburg Stage Coach was ambushed by Apache Mohave Indians on November 5, 1871. There were several other markers on my way into town, but most of them didn’t have easy places for an RV to pull over to check them out!The rain started up again before they got into town so they were happy for a break to dry out and warm up. I found a large parking lot where the guys stopped for lunch. After a rest and change of clothes, they were ready to tackle the next part of the ride. The Hwy 60 roundabout to Phoenix was just after our stop. Traffic picked up as they made the turn and headed southeast, but the shoulder was wide and they started having some downhill parts of their ride.Just before 3:30 pm, the guys got off the highway in Wittmann, Arizona and loaded the bikes. We drove back to Scottsdale so Tyler could pack his gear and get ready for his flight back to Colorado. We enjoyed dinner with our moms and Tobey’s sister before taking Tyler to the airport. Seven days of riding and 375 miles was a good accomplishment for Tyler’s first long distance trip. Thanks for joining us, Tyler!!
We will have a couple days in Scottsdale before we start off for the next part of the journey. I will be posting videos and more pictures in the next couple days.
