January 23, 2023 - Cordoba to Puerto Madryn, Argentina

Emi met us this morning and we attempted to find a bank that would allow us to withdraw US dollars from their ATM machines so we could exchange them locally at a better rate. No luck. No problem, the ATMs work fine even though the exchange rate is lower than the “blue market.” We also had a chance to walk inside the cathedral on the square because it was open this morning. It was beautiful!

We said our goodbyes since we needed to finish our packing. I made a quick trip to the 12th floor and got a couple pictures of the street below and buildings near our hotel before our airport pickup arrived.
Our flight from Cordoba to Puerto Madryn had a connection in Buenos Aires. The first flight was 30 minutes late departing, but that wasn’t a problem for us since we had over 2 hours in Buenos Aires. It was fun to see the landscape as we flew from Cordoba to Puerto Madryn.

Coming into Trelew airport we could see huge wind farms.

The delayed flight must have been a problem for one of our suitcases, however! We arrived in Trelew airport and suitcases came out, then more suitcases came out … and we waited. At last, one bag appeared. Then everyone else got their luggage and we were alone, still missing one bag. We met our ground transportation and he helped us file a claim with Aerolineas. They assured us that they have NEVER not recovered a bag in the last 10 years. Hopefully, it will arrive tomorrow and they will transfer it to our hotel. I am glad we always split our clothes between the two suitcases, so we both have clean things to wear!

We had a 45-minute drive to Puerto Madryn and arrived at the hotel around 10pm. After checking in we needed to find some dinner. We settled on salads at a restaurant not far from the hotel and made it back around midnight. We have our first tour tomorrow and they told us we have a 7:30 pickup so it’s going to be a short night. No internet in our room, so will post when we can.
