Day 42 Cross Country Bike Trip

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MOM!! Love you!

After writing the blog last night, we walked over to the casino. We had a great view of the Louisiana capitol building – and the wind! The casino is actually located on an old riverboat. We didn’t do any gambling but we went out on the deck to watch barges on the Mississippi before going back to the RV. It was foggy when Tobey started this morning and you can ALMOST see the capitol building in the background! Our route went along the River Road for a good part of the day. This was one of the many bridges across the river. Tobey spotted the sign for this historic church as he was pedaling, so I stopped to check it out. I was able to walk around it, but it wasn’t open. Construction on this church began before we officially became the United States! We went by refinery after refinery along the road. As the day went on, the fog lifted and the sky started to clear, but the wind kept up.2019-2-11 windThe following two pictures are part of the Marathon Refinery. It just seemed to go on and on!2019-2-11 Marathon refinery2019-2-11 Marathon 2We also passed fields of what looks like yarrow plants. It is so bright yellow! We got permission to stay at the River Parishes Community College tonight and Tobey rode in about 4pm. Tobey rode 65.6 miles today.
