Well, I once told Tobey that if he wanted to ever ride horses again, he had to get a new wife. We survived the horse ride to the volcano, so he is safe from that one. Today, however, I have a new “don’t want to do that again” item. Time share presentations.
We got suckered into going to a presentation that was NOT time share – it is “private ownership” vacations. You know if it sounds too good to be true, it must be – so believe it! We were told that we would received $1000 USD on a prepaid Visa card through a maintenance fee reimbursement program and we could use it for whatever we wanted. Sounds great, right? Well, we got to the resort and it’s not things were not what we were told. The $1000 is an online “travel credit” card when you book your stuff through this company. We do like to travel, so we shall see if we are able to get anything with it. SO, we have the breakfast, listened to the “one hour” presentation, and five hours after we were picked up this morning, we were FINALLY finished. We also had to stand up for our rights because after the presentation, they then said we didn’t qualify (maybe because we didn’t buy?) and they weren’t going to give us anything! We were also promised two massages and they were going to renig on that, but we stood our ground and they don’t want that! After getting a taxi back to town, we went to the Malecon to get our massages.
We both had the same woman and she did an incredible job, so that helped ease some of the tensions from the morning, as well as our backs! If you are ever in Puerto Vallarta, go see Flor at Yumin Spa Massage just off the Malecon!
While Tobey was getting his massage, I walked to the Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral. They are working on renovations outside, but it is still a beautiful building. After we were both finished, we decided to walk further south on the Malecon to see what was going on. The Cuale River is one of five rivers that feed into the bay at Puerto Vallarta. The local families love being in the water and enjoying the sunny days. The river was full with children and adults of all ages!Beachside, they had put rocks across part of the river to make the water a little deeper. It is much calmer than the ocean waves and safer for the little ones.We enjoyed seeing lots of the many sculptures along the Malecon.Tobey said we must head home too early because so many of the vendors and booths were just setting up at 6pm. This one looked so good, but we hadn’t had dinner yet!We happened upon music and what seemed like a “taste of” event at Los Muertos Square. The band was playing, people were dancing, and food vendors were tempting our taste buds!We settled on quesadillas, but they are different than the ones we make. They have the stuffing inside and are then fried. On top was lettuce, cheese and crema. Not bad! Add some horchata and we called it dinner. This was one food booth we were NOT tempted by – hot dogs in tortillas and French fries. I am sure it is perfectly fine, just not for me!Dinner complete, we strolled back to the Malecon to watch the sunset. This “car rental” operation was pretty cute! We did see one little boy zipping down the path in a little white convertible. We skipped the cotton candy, opting instead for some candy roasted nuts. The sunset was beautiful and was a pleasant end to our day. We will leave Puerto Vallarta tomorrow and continue our northward journey.
