Six boats were still in the bay when we got up this morning – five sailboats an one cabin cruiser. What a fun sight to see!We walked by this café yesterday and decided to go for breakfast today. How can you go wrong with jazz and wine for breakfast? We actually had the French toast with chocolate and milk, but they did have nice music playing in the background! It was very filling and I had to bring half of mine home. After breakfast, we decided to take a long walk on the beach. From out spot, we can see this compound off in the distance, so that was our goal. I thought it was a village with a large church. When we got closer, we saw the “private property” signs and later learned that it is a villa you can rent. For about $5000 a night you can also rent the villa with the church or mosque! There is an estuary between us and our destination and a man we met on the beach told us he had spotted a crocodile there. We checked it out and sure enough, he was there enjoying the sunshine along the shallow water. We estimated he was about 7 feet long and wondered how fast he could travel on sand. After lunch we took naps and rested our weary feet. The walk turned out to be 4.7 miles roundtrip in the sand. Most of the way the beach is pretty flat, thank goodness! We spent a little time on the beach mid-afternoon and I actually got in the water, but I thought it was COLD! Sitting on the beach to dry out felt nice!
For dinner we walked back down the beach to Chee Chee’s Restaurant. We camped next to their restaurant 6 years ago and had dinner there. I was looking forward to having their almond shrimp, (sweet memory) but they were out of it! I settled for a sweet and sour shrimp which was okay, but disappointing when you set your mind on having something else! After dinner we checked at another restaurant and they have almond shrimp, but don’t know that we will stay another night. This is Chee Chee’s restaurant.I enjoy all the flowers we have seen. This red one was at our breakfast restaurant and most unusual. I have never seen anything with such spikey stems before! The rest of these flowers – the Bougainvillea (pink and white), and the purple and yellow flowers are hanging from the wall at the house next to us giving us a beautiful view out our “living room” window!During the day today, two sailboats and the cabin cruiser pulled out , but this evening, one new cabin cruiser came in.On a side note, this little town has several Americans and Canadians staying here, even though it is really tiny. We met a couple today that are from Denver and this is their second year coming here for vacations! We spent a long time visiting with them and enjoyed hearing their story. They said they will make their reservation for next year before they leave! It is peaceful and a well-protected little bay and they seem to be enjoying it as much as we are!
