March 9, 2015 - Fidel’s RV Camp, El Pabellon Beach

It has been a crisp and windy day today. When we got up it was completely overcast and we weren’t sure what kind of day it would be. We put on jeans and sweatshirts and took a long walk south along the beach – about 5 miles round trip. We ended up close to where the truck is as the land makes a bend.

I’m not good at identifying stuff that comes from the ocean, but these plants reminded me of sea onions. Who knows??

We did pass lots of other stuff on the beach, but I won’t post pictures. There were at least four dead sea lions and some dead rays. We talked to one of the other campers here and Fidel told them that one of the big fishing boats that troll along here dump them when they get caught in their nets. It made me sad!
While the RV camping area is nothing to get super excited about, we do have a good view of the water. We have hop-scotched the big Class A RV behind us at several stops up and down the Baja. They are from Canada and heading home, also.

It is a good thing that the US has regulations about bringing dogs back into the States before they have had their rabies shots at about 4 months old or we might have another dog! One of the beach dogs here had pups and there are three left from her litter of five. Apparently two have been rescued by other campers.

The few campers who are here have been feeding mama, and the pups are still nursing – or at least trying to! They look like they are about six-eight weeks old and are a little shy. I was able to hold them a couple times.

They are pretty quick and when mama goes by, they take off like bullets after her! The dark brown one is really chubby, but very sweet!

This afternoon our walk was a little over 2 miles round trip. The wind was just so brisk and unpleasant that neither of us wanted to be out.

Tonight’s sunset was beautiful. Tomorrow we we stop in Ensenada for some shopping and fish tacos before heading east so we can turn south to San Felipe for a while.
