Mexico 2012 RV Trip - Day 80 - March 15, 2012 Playa Cueta - Las Glorias

This morning we had a wonderful surprise. We opened our curtains to look at the ocean as we had breakfast and Tobey spotted some dolphins not far off shore! There were four of them and they were jumping out of the water. They went back and forth in front of us for at least 20 minutes. It was really cool.
If you recall, we found out that the egg yolks and chickens are dark yellow here in Mexico because they feed them marigolds.Well, this morning as we left Playa Ceuta we found out why beef is red. They feed the cattle tomatoes!

The horses are fed tomatoes, as well. We passed huge farms which we assumed are corporate farm operations.

The corn fields went for miles and there were huge grain elevators. Many of the elevators had the same “Jova” painted on them. There were also miles and miles of covered fields. They are similar to greenhouses, but look more like fabric to protect the plants from the sun.
We stopped in Guamuchil to get the oil changed in the RV. We had the oil and filter and paid $50 pesos ($4USD) to have the work done. Since it was lunch time, we also stopped at one of the open-air restaurants. We look for one that has lots of cars and semi-trucks stopped at it because they are usually good. Taqueria Fila was good. We had four carne asada tacos for $65 pesos ($5.15 USD) and we had to ask for extra tortillas because there was too much filling! They were tasty.
We went on to Las Glorias, our destination for today. We asked the police if we could park on the beach road just behind the dunes and they said it was okay and that they patrol this street so it was very safe. There are houses behind us and some restaurants further down the road.

It is again cool – only 69°F, windy, and overcast. We took a short walk on the beach. There are lots of shells and birds.

The wind must blow quite hard here because they have to plow this road to keep the sand cleared!

We drove 201 miles today. We are working our way north.
