February 11, 2015 - Los Frailes

First of all – Happy Birthday, Mom! The hardest part of being here is we have no cell service or internet access, so we are really out of touch. We hope you had a really great day!

The easy part of staying here at Los Frailes is we don’t have to do anything, yet we are entertained! We took a walk on the beach before breakfast and admired the huge, beautiful homes overlooking the beach.

Looking out our window behind the RV are some bushes, and there were three of the yellow birds flitting around to entertain us. I have no idea what they are, but will research it when we get internet!

Shortly after breakfast we could hear some “oohs” and “aahhs” outside, so we grabbed the camera and headed for the beach to join several of the other campers to watch a mother and baby whale who were very close to the shore. The whales just hung around near the person in the kayak for the longest time. It was so bright that I was just pointing the camera in the general direction and shooting pictures because I couldn’t see anything on the screen. I was happy to get a couple pictures that actually came out!

We spent a lot of time reading, quilting, and relaxing. This afternoon we headed back to the beach as the fishing boats were coming in to buy some cabria, which we have never had but were told was a tasty fish. We were not having much luck, but our new friend, Ron, came down and talked to one of the fishermen he knew and we were able to get some. We will cook it tomorrow and let you know how it is.

This has been a great beach stop, but we plan to head to Los Barriles tomorrow before going back to La Paz on Sunday. Tobey dropped 10psi out of all the tires tonight, hoping that our drive out will not be as rough because neither of us is looking forward to the washboard road! So adios, Los Frailes!
