March 14, 2018 - Melaque to Punta Perula, Mexico

We both felt a little better this morning and decided to move a little further north today – 51 miles to be exact! Our camping at Bungalows Laguna del Tule was $500 pesos for two nights, but we didn’t use the electric or it would have been more. No worries.

We stopped at Chee Chee’s Restaurant here in Punta Perula where we camped six years ago and like many of the stops, it has changed! It is quite the tourist location with a paved street and online menu! Needless to say, it was not really a possibility for us to camp next to it. We looked at the four RV parks here and none of them were ideal – cramped and no views of the ocean. We did, however, find a quiet residential street with plenty of room to park overlooking the ocean. Since we don’t need hookups, we pulled in and have a great view of the water. We took a walk on the beach this afternoon and checked out the beautiful bay at Punta Perula. When we walked by heading north, I mentioned to Tobey that it looked like these boys were getting ready for a “sand ball” fight.Sure enough, as we headed back south, they were in full swing, flinging sand balls at each other! The little guy on the right had a better aim and seemed to be winning. When they were down to one “sand ball” the little one took off chasing the other boy and I am sure he won!We also saw a couple little guys making use of the boogie board as a sled! Kids sure know how to have fun.Tobey decided to cool off with a swim in the calm waters of the bay. Not too cold at all. When we stopped here there were two sailboats anchored. As we made dinner, two more sailboats and a HUGE cabin cruiser pulled into the bay. We had fun watching as the little dingy at the back of the large sailboat ferried people to their boat, while others rode SUPs. We wondered what we needed to do to be invited to their party! It is quiet here and we look forward to spending another day at this beautiful beach.
