Today Tobey started his bicycle ride from Fort Collins to Yellowstone National Park.
Tobey left the house about 5:30 this evening and headed north through La Porte and onto Highway 287. His 10.28 mile journey took just under an hour (52:05 minutes) and he averaged 11.8 mph with a 331’ elevation gain. He is using a computer app called Map My Ride which will calculate everything for him including how many calories he burns on the ride! Today was 485 calories.
We are camping at a farm just west of Ted’s Place on Highway 14. Tobey biked out here a few days ago and met the farmer and arranged our stay. When we arrived, we let him and his wife know we were here and spent about an hour visiting with them. They are very kind and it was great to meet some new friends!
Tomorrow morning we will meet Phil and Marcia, and Bob at 7:30 and the guys will begin their first full day of riding. They are driving their first 10 miles, but Tobey said if he is riding from Fort Collins to Yellowstone, he is riding the entire trip! Penny is excited about the trip and will be good company for me!
