January 2, 2016 - Scottsdale, Arizona

Welcome to the new year! We are still in Arizona enjoying our time with family and friends.

Today I met a long-time friend, Susan, at Singh Farms.
This interesting 20 acre farm is on Thomas Road, just east of the 101 Highway. While it is only about 10 minutes from our Mom’s house, I had never been there! There are lots of mesquite trees which shade much of the public areas.

The market, which is only open on Saturdays, sells freshly harvested produce, dips, oils, honeys, and jams — and some very yummy bread. There is also an area where they make organic pizzas and another for homemade soups. It was fun to see all the families there with their kids, enjoying the day and even music.

Susan, her cousin, and I had fun checking everything out before stopping to eat some of the pretzel bread and lemon-garlic dip she had purchased for her dad!

Mr. Singh who started the farm, was raised in India, Canada and Arizona. In honor of the Indians who farmed there, his Indian neighbors have his permission to pick anything they'd like for free.

If you are in the Scottsdale area on a Saturday, this is a fun way to pass a couple hours!
