We finished loading everything then got on the road - ten miles of washboard gravel. I’m not sure that taking any air out of the tires made much difference. When we arrived in La Ribera, we stopped and got air in the tires – $20 pesos ($1.50 USD). Tobey’s Boy Scout knots are holding and the scooter was still riding fine.
We did see Rick, the guy we met at El Chorro. He was scouting the road in his truck, trying to decide if he was going to pull his trailer down to Los Frailes. He caught up with us where the gravel met blacktop and said he wasn’t up to 10 miles of that! Coward.
Almost 3 hours later, we were finally back to Hwy 1 and on to our next stop, Los Barriles. We stopped at Martin Verduga’s RV park and they had one space available, but it is in town, so we decided to keep going.
We are camped just off the beach at Playa Norte RV Park. There were lots of kite and windsurfers in this area and we hope to watch them for a while in the morning. We unloaded the scooter and ran back into town for a few supplies. We also drove a little north of here to the arroyo to see where people were camping for free. We parked the scooter and walked in because it was pretty soft sand. Most of the campers had 4 wheel drive trucks and pull behind trailers and only a couple class C rigs. We are content where we are.
A short walk on the beach revealed coarse sand, and mostly rocky beach. It is not nearly as nice as the beach at Los Frailes. Both of us said we would take the long, gravel road again because the beach at Los Frailes was so much nicer.

We are tucked in along the beach row of RVs with a pretty good view of the water. We met the couple in the RV two over from us, Richard and Cathy. We sat and visited with them and their cute little dog, Ling Ling, for quite a while this evening. Nice people!
We also have cell service here, so we can use the internet – YEAH!!! Life is good.
