It was an interesting drive and I will just share some of the photos from the road to start with. It was Tuesday and market day. We saw motorcyle after motorcyle on the road carrying anything - and everything! I couldn't get the picture, but people were even carrying TWO GOATS on the motorcyle to market!
When we reached the border at Tanzania we had to go through immigration and get our visas.
After completing our paperwork, we changed vehicles and guides and said goodbye to Simon. Our new guide is Alladin (but it is pronounced Aladini!).
Wendy and I made a pitstop. Yes, some of the toilets are a bit different than what most of us are used to.
Back on the road to the Ndoro Waterfalls we saw so many interesting sites. Lots and lots of trucks, bananas going to market.
They grow lots of bananas and sunflowers in the area. The sunflowers are used mainly for oil.
Our tourist stop was Ndoro Falls. It had rained pretty heavily the day before so it was a slippery, muddy hike down to see the falls - and then we had to go back up! One of the worst things was biting ants. We had to stop several times and stomp them off. Some of the group got bites, but Tobey and I were lucky.
Shari got to hold the chameleon, but it kept jumping!
After our hike we had lunch and then a LONG drive to Arusha where we spent the night. We got to watch a fight after an accident near our hotel. The car windshield was smashed in and one guy had a knife! Exciting.
We watched a helicopter land on the golf course behind the hotel. One guy got out with his golf clubs and a small overnight bag.
The view from the front of the hotel was of Mount Meru - very beautiful.
We had a lovely dinner and still no internet. One of these days I will get this posted!
