May 25, 2016 Where to next??? That is the question!

We have been home since mid-March and all of our friends keep asking us where we are headed off to next.

The next big adventure will launch on June 3, but Tobey has been in training for the trip already. We are going to Yellowstone National Park – about 500 miles from Fort Collins. It will take us about 9-10 days to get there. Tobey will be riding his bike and I will drive the RV. Two other friends, Phil and Bob, are biking with him and Phil’s wife, Marcia, will be driving their RV. Bob will be tent camping part of the time, and sleeping on our sofa part of the time.

Our friend, Phil, inspired the trip. He has ridden coast to coast with his brother, and from Canadian border to Mexican border with Marcia as his RV backup. Last fall when he asked Tobey if he would like to do the Yellowstone ride, Tobey said yes.

Tobey bought a new touring bike and has been training. His rides vary between 25 to 75 miles and he feels like he is ready to go. They have the route mapped out and many of the camping areas planned. Once we get to Yellowstone we are hoping we can find a site in the “non-reservable” campgrounds to spend a couple of nights since all of the ones that require reservations are full.

I need to start the meal planning to make sure he gets enough carbs to keep him going. It will be an easy trip for Penny and me because we will have plenty of time for walks and reading.

Watch for updates in early June!
